Scheduled to start on 5 July 2011, the cooperation agreement applies to flights to 40 over European destinations served by the two airlines. Based on the data currently available, the aviation safety authorities have decided to reopen Bremen airport to air traffic. According to information from the authorities, Hamburg Airport will reopen at 12:00 noon. Berlin-Tegel is planned to reopen at 2:00 pm, Sylt at 2:30 pm and Rostock-Laage at 5:00 pm local time.Based on these circumstances, airberlin plans to resume normal flight operations from Hamburg, Bremen, Rostock-Laage, Sylt and Berlin-Tegel airports as soon as possible. In April 2011, airberlin transported a total of 2,778,784 passengers, i.e. an increase of 22.5 percent. Fleet capacity for April 2011 increased by 16.3 percent. The significantly higher capacity and number of passengers results from the fact that in the corresponding month of the previous year more than 3,500 flights were cancelled due to the effects of the volcanic eruption in Iceland. Fleet capacity utilization for April increased from 72.2 to 76.1 percent, i.e. an increase of 3.9 percentage points.
