Sheremetyevo Airport Unveils “Saturn” — Its New Comfort Lounge for Limited-Mobility Passengers
Today, on February 27, 2014, Sheremetyevo International Airport unveiled its new “Saturn” Lounge, designed for the rest and relaxation of limited-mobility passengers. The new lounge is located in the public area of Terminal D (1stfloor, arrival area, right wing). Evgeny Bakhteev, First Deputy General Director of Sheremetyevo Airport, Mikhail Terentiev, General Secretary of the Russian Paralympic Committee and RF State Duma Deputy, Rima Batalova, Vice President of the Russian Paralympic Committee, 13-time Paralympic champion and RF State Duma Deputy, and Oleg Rysev, Deputy Chairman of the All-Russian Society of the Disabled, as well as members of the mass media and bloggers all took part in the opening ceremony.

For his part, Mikhail Terentiev, RF State Duma Deputy, remarked, “Sheremetyevo Airport has earned its status as a leader in this field and is rightly viewed as a prime example for other Russian airports in terms of how to service limited-mobility passengers. These best practices need to be spread to other transportation hubs, so that Russia can become a barrier-free country for all of its citizens.”
The opening of “Saturn” Lounge marks a key step in the run-up to the 11th Winter Paralympic Games in Sochi in 2014. The cozy, comfortable lounge provides disabled passengers with high-level servicing and individual attention while they await their flights.
“Saturn” is the second international comfort level specialized lounge for limited-mobility passengers at Sheremetyevo Airport. The lounge is equipped with an individual service room with an employee call button, a cafe, free Wi-Fi, a specialized “sound panel” designed for hearing-impaired passengers, and more.

AsВ you may recall, inВ 2013, Sheremetyevo Airport provided services toВ 42.9 thousand passengers with limited mobility, which isВ 42.8% more than inВ 2012. According toВ forecasts, this figure will beВ considerably higher inВ 2014, thanks toВ the large number ofВ spectators and participants attending the Winter Paralympic Games, which isВ expected toВ top 70В thousand passengers with limited mobility.
