Iberia and Domodedovo: five years of cooperation
Iberia and Moscow Domodedovo Airport celebrate five years of successful cooperation.
The companies signed an agreement in 2005 and Iberia started daily operations Madrid – Moscow. An evening service was launched in 2007 in addition to the existing day flight. Thus, at the moment the airline operates two daily flights from Domodedovo. Five years of cooperation saw 2 750 flights and some 550 thousand passengers carried.
The airline has an extensive route network from Madrid especially to Latin America countries. In fact, Iberia is leading the Europe-Latin America market, with a market share of 20%, and more than 120 flights a week between both regions. For this reason Moscow Domodedovo Airport is usually considered by many travelers as a starting point of a trip to such an exotic and far away destination. Flights to traditional tourist cities in Spain (Alicante, Malaga, Tenerife and Valencia), Portugal (Lisboa, Portu) and America (Buenos Aires, Santo Domingo, Sao Paulo) are very popular among travelers.
Iberia is a member of oneworld alliance. Domodedovo airport is striving to become one of base airports for oneworld. For the Russian side a code sharing agreement between S7 Airlines and Iberia was signed to operate flights Moscow – Madrid starting from 2010 in the view of future cooperation with a oneworld member.
On the occasion on March 15 check in area of the airline in Domodedovo will be decorated with a balloon arc of Iberia corporate colors while passengers of the evening flight will be treated to a festive cake.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest airport of Russia. Its market share in total passenger traffic in Moscow makes 46%. At the moment 78 partner airlines (34 foreign, 28 Russian and 16 from the CIS) connecting over 220 destinations operate flights all over the world. The unique route network covered by Domodedovo partner airlines provides for 89 exclusive destinations. In 2009 18,7 million passengers benefited from Domodedovo services.
