Moscow Domodedovo International Airport and “Art Impress” Gallery present works of modern artists at the airport’s VIP-lounge as part of the joint exposition project “From city to city”
On December the 20th, 2007 Moscow Domodedovo International Airport and "Art Impress" Gallery presented works of modern artists at the airport's VIP-lounge as part of the joint exposition project "From city to city".
The airport, a symbolic place for the modern urban culture, has become an ideal context for the theme "From city to city". The extraordinariness of the space flooded with streams of people and powerful electric charges is a perfect backdrop for the works of art filled with zeitgeist impulses and at the same time it is a participant and director of the exposition itself. The exposition consists of more than sixty paintings and drawings completed in different techniques and artistic styles ranging from academic precision to vanguard experiments with colour, form, and spatial ratios. "From city to city" is a group exposition of young authors many of whom are graduates of the Moscow Academic Institute named after V. I. Surikov.
The artists reveal the profound seriousness of their creative processes and artistic visions to the viewer. The disciples of P. F. Nikonov, artists Pavel Otdelnov, Mikhail Smirnov, and Aigerim Syzdykova, are members of the Moscow Union of Artists. Developing their creativity within the framework of a clearly-defined artistic system they proceed from the legacy of Falk, Drevin, Andronov, and the Russian school of icon painting.

Vladislav Vakarev, Alexey Zhuchkov, Elena Feodor, Svetlana Temchuk, and Igor Revenko actively work in the monumental art area. The search for a new perception of such an ancient technique as fresco within modern interiors, the fusion of advanced technologies and materials with the sublime spirit of this most complex type of art - are the primary components of these authors' circle of interests.
The works of Alexey Zhuchkov have been repeatedly marked with awards of the Russian Academy of Arts. In 2006, the Russian Orthodox Church awarded him with the silver medal of St. Sergiy Radonezhskiy of the second degree for the work he had done painting the Sofia Cathedral of Divine Wisdom (Moscow, Pushechnaya street).

The ark
Representatives of decorative traditions, Anastasia Raikova, Yuri Zotov, Rusudan Khantadze-Andronikashvili, Vidmantas Vaitkyavichus, apply unusual techniques and use open colour combinations. The rich and succulent colours on the paintings of Rusudan Khantadze-Andronikashvili resemble intricately ornamented oriental carpets.

It is not only the theme that makes the exposition a comprehensive whole, but it is also a special lyrical mood and spirituality of images that are common for all the works.
