Italian Elite Clothes Boutiques Open in the International Terminal of Ekaterinburg Airport

Ekaterinburg Koltsovo is soon to become the first Russian airport to house haute couture boutiques: Versace, Ferragamo, and Emporio Armani. In a week, any international passenger of the airport will have an opportunity to buy clothes and accessories of the leading brands’ latest collections in the duty-free zone at “Italian” prices. An event unusual for an airport will take place in the four-star Angelo Airport Hotel on 21 October 2011, including an accessories collection show, a dinner all’italiana, and a discotheque by a fashionable night club of Ekaterinburg.

“Opening designer clothes stores at an airport is unique in Russia so far, no other airport has it at present,” commented Ekaterinburg Airport General Director Evgeniy Chudnovskiy. “Alongside with the development of necessary infrastructure and the buildup of operational capacities, we try to provide passengers with services of maximum diversity and quality. We are certain that the new opportunity of buying high-end brand items in Koltsovo’s sterile area at the traditionally lower prices of duty-free shops will be a pleasant event at the very start of our passengers’ trips abroad.”

At present, the sterile area of Ekaterinburg Airport accommodates a duty-free shop of over 800 square metres offering a wide range of quality spirits, cosmetics and perfumery as well as tobaccos and confectionery: they are the goods mostly demanded by travellers. Elsewhere, the air terminals of Koltsovo Airport put up such national retail chains as Bosco Sport, L’Etoile, Accessorize, Euroset, Sbarro & Oriental Bazaar a. o.

You most probably know that duty-free shops are situated at the interface of the state border and the “neutral” territory, in the so-called sterile area for passengers of the airport’s International Terminal. Since duty-free shops are outside the customs border, goods here are not subject to taxes, duties, bans or restrictions established by the respective country’s law.
